From data silos to one source of truth at Defense
Data Solutions

The challenge

Defense operates within a complex, fragmented environment with high demands for security and transparency. The information management had to be harmonized across departments, process-driven and future-proofed for information-driven operations. In addition, stakeholder management played a crucial role.

Our approach

Our consultant worked as a business analyst with project leaders, domain specialists and information architects. Current and desired information flows were analyzed, guidelines were established for IGW/IGO, advice was given on information processes and pilots were supported in the area of dashboards and document flows.

context

For an organization like the Department of Defense, speed, precision and reliability are crucial. At the same time, dependence on data for both military and administrative decisions is growing. Within the “Defense Open on Order” program, IBS was asked to provide a business analyst for the Information Integration project, with the aim of laying the foundations for Information Guided Working (IGW) and Operations (IGO).

The impact

Delivered clear process architecture for IGW & IGO, with clear roles, preconditions and forward-looking guidelines. Information became usable as an asset for decision-making and transparency. Stakeholders were connected across domains.

Why this case matters

Information is the strategic weapon of the 21st century. This case shows how Defense got a grip on information flows for both internal effectiveness and geopolitical preparedness.
